New York-based Clouds Architecture Office run by Masayuki Sono and Ostap Rudakevych has proposed suspending the world's tallest skyscraper from an asteroid and named this super tower – Analemma Tower. The architects propose building the tower over Dubai, a city at the forefront of super tall construction. The completed tower would follow a figure-of-eight path between the northern and southern hemispheres each day. The inhabitants would be able to disembark via parachute.
NASA has scheduled an asteroid retrieval mission for 2021 which aims to prove the feasibility of capturing and relocating an asteroid and depending upon the success of this mission, manipulating asteroids will no longer be relegated to science fiction.
Since the topology of this new tower is suspended in air, it can be constructed anywhere in the world and transported to its final location. The tower would be powered by solar panels mounted on the uppermost levels. The size and shape of windows changes along the length of the tower, adapting to the different exertions of the atmosphere as well as temperature. They would also have rounded elevations to cope with the increased pressure.
