Massachusetts-based firm WOJR as per the request of one of their client has proposed a conceptual cabin in upstate New York. The client has proposed this reclusive building to be placed overlooking the lake in which he lost his younger brother. They aimed for the space to be one for refuge and contemplation. It would face west, towards the lake. It has a sleeping nook and bathroom to the north. It consists of a narrow walkway which would lead up to the entrance, located in the centre of the front facade. After crossing the initial threshold of the house's "mask", visitors would enter into an open-plan living area that contains only a central suspended hearth. The interior of the house would be furnished in a light-coloured wood all except the sleeping corner – which would be lined in a dark, felt-like material – and the bathroom, finished with tiles.
