Rotterdam based firm OMA has designed an L-shaped project at 121 East 22nd Street at Lexington Avenue, Manhattan. The project is complete with triangular windows that fold up the corner. It also pays homage to the neighbouring pre-war structures all the same time being as unique as possible while adhering to the city's height limits and zoning laws. The unique part of the design can be witnessed in the exterior of the smaller block facing 22nd Street which consists of undulating black grids of precast concrete panels punched with rectangular windows. Due to the irregularity of the construction, the designers have created three different entrances to the building from all three different streets. Amenities such as pool, gym lounge, garage, dining room, children's room and screening room are all housed on the lower levels.
Here at Sigma College of Architecture, one of the Top Architectural Colleges in Tamil Nadu we help our students broaden their horizons by educating them on projects that think outside the box.
