The Architectural firm, Foster + Partners which was founded by Norman Foster in 1967 is the first Architecture practice to sign up to the Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment. This means that by 2030 all buildings created by the practice will be carbon neutral. The same will also be done for their existing buildings by 2050. The practice, along with 23 other cities including New York, London and Tokyo aim to uphold the values of the commitments. This commitment was launched at the Global Climate Action Summit in September 2018 by the World Green Building Council (WGBC). The construction sector is one of the most carbon-intensive industries and the WGBC aims to reduce the industry's carbon dioxide emissions by 84 gigatonnes over the next 30 years, which is why the target has been set at 2050. Foster + Partners have an exemplary portfolio which includes Bloomberg's London headquarters, which is regarded by many as the most sustainable office building in the world.
