Following the elections held earlier this year Finland's new government has announced plans to become carbon neutral by 2035. To become carbon neutral in 15 years’ time is a hectic task and the country has decided to reduce its fossil fuel consumption and invest heavily in renewable energy resources such as wind, solar and bioenergy. Finland houses the largest Peat-fired powered plants in the world. It also plans to raise 730 million pounds through taxes which will be directly used for the carbon program and also to improve the country's welfare system. The northern town of ‘Li’ in Finland aims to be the standing example by aiming to become the country's first zero waste community. "We are determined to tackle the challenge of climate change. But it needs to be done in a socially fairway," Prime Minister Antti Rinne
