World Mourns the Passing of César Pelli

Petronas Towers Architect César Pelli passed away on 19 July 2019, aged 92. The Argentine-American Architect was a senior principal at Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and was also the AIA Gold medal-winning architect. Excluding the former world's tallest building he was also known for his other renowned works such as One Canada Square at Canary Wharf in London, World Financial Center in New York City and the National Museum of Art in Osaka.

Pelli was born in 1926 in Tucumán, northern Argentina. He moved to the United States to attend the University Of Illinois School Of Architecture after completing his Architecture studies at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán. In 1977 Pelli established his own firm Cesar Pelli & Associates, not before gaining over ten years of experience from the studio of Eero Saarinen where he joined right after graduating.

His most prominent work was, of course, the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which still remains as the tallest twin towers in the world but at one point also held the title of the tallest building during the period between 1998 and 2004.

Here at Sigma College of Architecture, one of the Top Architectural Colleges in Tamil Nadu we help our students broaden their horizons by educating them on peoples and projects that think outside the box.
