Istanbul practice Hayri Atak Architectural Design Studio has designed a concept for a boutique hotel within a cliff edge. The project that includes a cantilevered glass the swimming pool will be perched on a site 600-metres-high on Preikestolen – a steep cliff and popular tourist spot in the west of Norway that overhangs the Lysefjorden fjord.
The project will have its entrance to the hotel on top of the cliff, which would also double as a giant public viewing platform. Below the entrance lie nine guest suites and a shared lounge area. Below, the lounge the project houses a shared balcony that extends out further from the guest bedrooms and also has a giant outdoor swimming pool. The long, narrow pool cantilevers precariously out from the edge of the balcony and is made entirely from glass to immerse the more adventurous swimmers and tantalize them with the sheer drop below.
