The World mourns the passing of Di Francia

Italian Architect and co-founder of radical design collective Superstudio Cristiano Toraldo di Francia has died at the age of 78. Cristiano Toraldo started the radical design collective Superstudio along with Adolfo Natalini in 1966.

Born in Florence in 1941, Di Francia studied Architecture at the prestigious University of Florence and graduated in 1968. After Superstudio dissolved in 1980 Di Francia started working as an Architect and during his illustrious career he designed public spaces, train and coach stations, pharmacies, clinics, and bus shelters. He taught and lectured at universities in the US, Japan, and across Europe. He also helped found the School of Architecture and Industrial Design of The University of Camerino in 2003.

It was Superstudio that spearheaded Italy's radical Architecture and design movement in the 1960s and 1970s. Superstudio gained global popularity in 1966 when they denounced modernist Architecture at the Superarchitettura show which they collaborated with Archizoom Associati.

Here at Sigma College of Architecture, one of the Top Architectural Colleges in Tamil Nadu we help our students broaden their horizons by educating them on peoples and projects that think outside the box.
