Italian Architect Stefano Boeri in collaborated with Egyptian designer Shimaa Shalash and Italian landscape architect Laura Gatti has designed three cube-shaped vertical forest apartments blocks for Egypt's New Administrative Capital. The three, seven-storey apartment buildings are being built in the desert 30 miles from Cairo and is done so under the request of Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi who has planned the site to be the administrative capital of the country. Each individual structure will be 30 metres tall and 30 metres wide and every individual apartment will have its own balcony planted with species appropriate to the local climate. The designers predict that between them the three buildings there would be sufficient space to hold 350 trees and 14,000 shrubs of over 100 species. The project is said to commence in 2020 and its expected completion time is the year 2022.
