ACDF Architecture, a Montreal based firm in Canada has designed a 30-storey tower to shelter elders in Quebec, with sophisticated facilities akin to a boutique hotel. The tower incorporates a slim residential tower, with a capacity for 286 residential units, which includes 206 apartments, 48 condominiums and 32 patient care units, along with amenities like a lobby, library, private dining rooms and a coffee shop in an interior courtyard.
The north and south facades of panorama Retirement Home are adorned with long glazed balconies and dark windows, while the east and west facades are clad with precast concrete grey panels. The designers said that they wanted the tower to look as though a cloudy sky was hanging over the landscape, as they wanted to avoid the clichéd institutional designs. Therefore, with Panorama, they built a welcoming and friendly environment for sophisticated senior citizens.
