Juun. J Flagship Store in Seoul, South Korea

South Korean practice WGNB has designed the flagship (the main headquartered shop) for fashion brand Juun.J in Seoul, South Korea. The architecture for this flagship shop is dominantly based on a cluster of black geometric forms. The store is divided into two floors -- the first floor consists of café and women’s wear, whereas the second floor comprises of men’s wear. They used natural elements such as light and shadow to accentuate the darkness within space using black, the identity color of Juun. J brand; they chose black because, according to them, it invites endless curiosity to people.

One can enter into the store through an open corridor which is located between the café and the courtyard, leading into the cube that has women’s wear at the first-floor level, and the menswear above. The dark menswear space is predominantly formed from rectangular screens and semi-circles, with most of the clothing pushed to the edges of space. Black curtains adorn the fitting room, thereby adding another black texture to space. The triangular windows bring a small amount of diffused light into the triangular café below. While the interior is made up of wood, metal, and stone, the exterior is covered entirely with a finely-textured black render.
