Trio Of Multifaith Temples To Be Designed In Abu Dhabi

Architect David Adjaye will design the Abrahamic Family House, which will be an interfaith complex and will consist of a church, mosque and synagogue. The Architect claims that they are designed to encourage “peaceful co-existence and acceptance” of the three Abrahamic faiths which are Christianity, Islam and Judaism. The church, mosque and synagogue upon completion would be differentiated by extraordinary decorative façade and orientation, which would be made up of screens and vaults which would evoke the details of traditional religious spaces. The aim designs at highlighting the often overlooked similarities and likeness between the three faiths. There will also be a fourth space in the complex which will be a plinth on which the temples will sit, and which will not be affiliated with any specific religion. The complex’s visitor centre will also be housed here, and is open to the public for a mix of events and educational courses.
