Cedar-Clad Garden Room Added To Birmingham House

A semi-detached house has been extended and renovated by Intervention Architecture in the Birmingham suburb of Moseley, where a garden room is covered with cedar wood strips. The north-east facing garden has light entering through it and the additional room has greenery outside it. A spacious kitchen and dining space fill the entire width of the site, which is at the rear of the home and leads into the projecting extension with a sliding door. The first floor has bedroom and bathroom spaces, which are accessed through a staircase located at the centre of the home. A paved limestone patio can be seen through a large opening bay window and an adjacent set of doors. The home’s lower level gets a slightly industrial feel as the original timber frames were replaced with Crittall-style aluminium frames that are black in color. Terracotta hexagon tiles are added to the garden room to make it look warm and also to provide a rough texture.

Here at Sigma College of Architecture, the Top Architecture College in Tamil Nadu, we broaden the horizons of our students by mentoring them to think out of the box.
