Angular Black House Designed Around Canadian Rainforest Clearing

Canadian practice Campos Studio has built a pointed house which is covered in black metal panels and angled wooden slats in the Pacific Northwest rainforest. Located in the municipality called Sooke on Vancouver Island, the irregularly shaped structure is built to frame views of the surrounding forest. The kitchen, living and dining room enjoy the view of a south-facing terrace, where the waterfront is visible through the trees. There is a blackened steel column which is placed in the centre of the space, between the kitchen, dining area, and living room. The highest point of the angular ceiling, marked by the blackened steel column, provides different interior heights for various spaces within the home. Wood has been used in designing the cabinets, accent walls, and floors. Most walls are white in color, whereas the minimal furniture completes the sophisticated look of the house.
