A fact that many of us often overlook is that Architecture actually does affect human mental health condition. The issue in the current day is that Architects only consider the functionality and the aesthetic appeal of the place. You might ponder what more needs to be done as an Architect; a fine example to clear your head would be that of a zoo. You can build a high end zoo with all amenities that the respected animal would need and place them inside gold bars, but the fact remains is they are still caged and their well-being, however beautiful their home is, is not well taken care off. The same applies for us human beings as well. To produce a building design, we ought to look beyond survival to well-being. We can even build on "primitive preferences" and emphasizes more on connections to nature. Besides that, making health an explicit component of planning is extremely critical.
Here at Sigma College of Architecture, one of the top Architectural colleges in South India, we train our students to be aware of what is happening to the world and deter problems efficiently.
