Babylonian Architecture

The Babylonian Empire was one of the great empires that dominated the region of Mesopotamia and its unique Architecture style is still famous. It was during this time that there was a significant improvement given to the ‘arch’ structures. The building materials used for constructions were those that can be readily accessible within their province. Another key feature to note was that the inscriptions made in the stones to describe the boundaries of the property also intend to throw terrifying spells for those who try to change or alter their limited boundaries. The most famous of the Babylon structures would be the Hanging Garden of Babylon which consists of vaulted terraces raised one above another, and resting upon cube-shaped pillars. It easily identifies as one of the most notable tourist destinations to visit in our nation.

Here at Sigma College of Architecture, one of the top Architectural colleges in South India we give special importance to these history that speaks volumes of our world’s culture and heritage.
