Literary Club

Thoth - god of the moon, drawing, writing, geometry, wisdom, medicine, music, astronomy, magic; usually depicted as ibis-headed, or as a goose. Thoth became credited by the ancient Egyptians as the inventor of writing (hieroglyphs) and was also considered to have been the scribe of the underworld. For this reason, Thoth was universally worshipped by ancient Egyptian scribes. Egyptian hieroglyphic writing was composed entirely of pictures, though the object depicted cannot be identified in every instance. The earliest examples that can be read show the hieroglyphs used as actual writing, that is, with phonetic values, and not as picture writing such as that of the Eskimos or American Indians. The origins of the script are not known. It apparently arose in the late predynastic period (just before 2925 BCE).

The objective is to make the students understand, analyse and gain knowledge through the process of reading.
The primary objective of the literary club is to promote the literary talents of the students.
Moreover, it provides them with the chance to express their creativity and talents in the best possible way.
With the assistance of the activities, they may develop an interest in the literary world and acquire the skills needed to effectively showcase their talents.

The club aims at encouraging students to read, immerse students in the written word and encourage them to express their thoughts through writing.

ACTIVITY PLANNER

GATE coaching	:	Classes for GATE exam and preparation
Explaining a write-up	:	Reading an article/blog and explaining it to the group
Debate	:	Reading up a topic in group and debating about the subject
Subjective illusions	:	Reading a topic and sharing their own perspective about the topic

Newsletters	:	The club members will have to produce articles for the college newsletter.

One workshop will be conducted by a subject head on how to write newsletters and the various aspects in it.
One state level competition will be conducted with a theme every academic year on newsletter writing and the victors will be decided by a panel. The victors will be awarded the “SICA`s READERS AND NEWSLETTERS CLUB ROLLING CLUB”

Each participant should carry identity proof
Students taking part in the events should register on the day of the fest at the registration committee. On spot entry is not obliged.
Students should refrain from any form of cheating and unfair play, failing which they will be disqualified.
The judges‟ decision is final.
Participants should go through the event rules and adhere to the specifics. Participation, props, music etc. for certain events should be confirmed. Pre-registration if required by contacting the event head.
A participant can participate only in one event during the simultaneous timings for events; a participant is not restricted to participation in any number of events as long as the event timings do not clash.
All the events will commence at the scheduled time; Punctuality will be appreciated.
Rules are subject to changes at the discretion of the Management/Organizers.
Criteria for Overall championship include participation in maximum number of events as well as the total scores obtained in the competitions.
Club posters and advertisements must have the full name of the college, club name and event easily visible.
Online conduct by all organizations through social media must still abide by the College‟s Social and Academic Honour Code.
All club finances must be run through the Overall club co-ordinator, Faculty incharge, Student co-ordinator, including spending, revenue and advertising accounts.
